Rethink: God is not in be business of giving us the desires of our heart.

Text: Psalm 37:4

Dear friend,

What has your heart desired for lately? What is your heart longing after? If God were to give you that desire, would He be a good Father?

In recent times I have come to understand that God is never late, delayed, or even on time when it comes to meeting the needs of his children.

We only use those words because we are time-bound, and that's the best way we can explain when we received the answer to our request from God but not when it was given. 

God has given us everything we need and would ever need, we receive it when we are ready.

Permit me to explain briefly the reason why I am writing this to you. If you are reading this today, then I believe God has something to say to you. 

God has been saying to me recently, "Amaechi you are desiring the wrong things." At the early stages of His voice, I honestly disagreed with Him. I didn't believe what I was desiring was wrong, because I felt it was going to help me serve Him better. You know that feeling right 😒

On my way to church on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, at exactly 3:50 pm. He said to me, "If you can focus only on me and what I want you to do for me, you'll never have a reason to worry about what you want me to do for you." I couldn't believe how easy that came, but it was so true!!!

This leads me to the point I need you to understand in Psalm 37:4. It never said God would give us the desires of our hearts. It said #Take_delight_in_the_Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.

Note: It is impossible to delight in the Lord and He will not be your only desire.

God doesn't go around giving people the desires of their hearts, He goes around giving people what to desire.

The only way God can be our desire is if we delight in Him.

The reason you desire something else other than Jesus is simply because you do not delight in Him.
