#Rethink: The gift of God is who God has given to you.
Text: John 4:6-18
Dear friend,
Over the past few weeks, I have enjoyed meditating on Jesus' conversation with that Samaritan woman by the well... Permit me to share my thoughts.
1. One of man's greatest problems and causes of frustration is his inability to "Know the gift of God."
This was the first thing Jesus addressed that was the leading cause of the woman's problems.
He said to her, "if only you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him..."
Your gifts, your life, your satisfaction, your journey find full expression when you begin to identify God's gifts to you.
God's gift to a man is a man.
2. The first gift of God to every man is family.
One of the first questions that kept ringing in my heart about that woman was, "where was her family when she was going through several difficult marriages?"
The Bible never mentioned anything about her family, which may also imply that she had a bad relationship with her family. In other words, she was unable to identify that (family) as a gift of God.
Jesus aimed to open her eyes to see Him as a gift of God.
~ I'll talk about some other gifts later.
3. Who God has not given to you is not His gift to you.
I could only imagine how the Samaritan woman would have avoided getting into 5 wrong marriages if only she had identified that that wasn't the gift of God.
So she finally met a "man" who was the gift of God to her and guess what...? He wasn't even going to be her husband😊😊
This set her life and everything else in a different and beautiful direction.
How many times have you received a gift knowing fully well that it wasn't from God?
Identify the gifts of God for you and receive them.
To be continued...
