𝙵𝚘𝚛 𝚠𝚎 𝚍𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚖𝚊𝚔𝚎 𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜 𝚘𝚏 𝚝𝚑𝚎 𝚗𝚞𝚖𝚋𝚎𝚛 𝚘𝚛 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜 𝚠𝚒𝚝𝚑 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚖𝚎𝚗𝚍 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚖𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜: 𝚋𝚞𝚝 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚢 𝚖𝚎𝚊𝚜𝚞𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚖𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜 𝚋𝚢 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚖𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝚌𝚘𝚖𝚙𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚖𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜 𝚊𝚖𝚘𝚗𝚐 𝚝𝚑𝚎𝚖𝚜𝚎𝚕𝚟𝚎𝚜, 𝚊𝚛𝚎 𝚗𝚘𝚝 𝚠𝚒𝚜𝚎.

𝟸 𝙲𝚘𝚛𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚑𝚒𝚊𝚗𝚜 𝟷𝟶:𝟷𝟸

𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝, 

Do you ever compare yourself with other people and feel like you do not measure up? Maybe you feel like you are not as good, pretty, organized, fun, or as hardworking as ______ (fill in the blank)

The bad news is that you may never be as pretty as Becky, as fluent as John, as vibrant as Jenny, as organized as Yemisi, or as hardworking as Emeka. But the good news is that you don't have to be. You only have to be you!!!!

However, this should in no way take away the place of self improvement. There are certain things that we may need to work on to personally improve ourselves, but it should not be done in the attempt of trying to measure up. 

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐉𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞. 𝐈𝐟 𝐛𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐇𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐨𝐰𝐧, 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐫𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐝? 

What or who do you want to measure up to?

Why are you trying to be accepted when you already are?

If the people around you become your scale of measurement, you will never measure up!!!

If people become the basis on which you record your progress, you will never truly progress. If they become your compass for direction, you will go nowhere. If they become your reason for approval, you will never truly be approved or approve yourself.

Paul from our key passage had to make us see that it is not wise to compare ourselves with others or try to measure up to a standard set by people. In fact, that thought is from the Devil. Paul particularly said we have to war against every thought that tells us we have to become or act in a certain way before we can feel good about ourselves.

Jesus does not even measure up to the standard of so many of us right? We know how to be more "Jesus" than He does. He would not feel like God or be God If He depends on us to be God or feel like God. On many occasions in scripture, He did not act like "the Christ" to many people. Today, a lot of us think He isn't doing a good job.

Be free from people's scale. Seek God's approval alone. If God approves of you, His people will.

Live your life, love your life, enjoy your growth process, be real and never try to measure up to anything. If you are a born-again believer, then the blood of Jesus has measured you up!!!!
