𝐃𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝,

There are certain things we must deliberately work at not remembering. One of which is the former things or the old. It is a major hindrance to everything new. Holding on to the old keeps us from experiencing whatever new thing that is about to happen. It is not just a gift from God to be able to remember things, it's also a gift from God to be able to forget things.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭?

Some of us don't ever forget a wrong done to us, we remember exact words spoken, exact date, exact time, the exact color of the cloth worn, and so on - it is not a good habit to cultivate.

I recently came to the understanding that it is a lot easier for us to forget what we are supposed to remember and a lot harder for us to forget the things we are not supposed to remember. Just as you take steps to remember, you must also take steps to forget by distracting yourself from every thought that doesn't add value to you. From scripture, God made it clear severally that we should forget the former things because if we are not deliberate about forgetting them we would never forget them.

Are you finding it difficult to forget about that sin you committed, that child you aborted, or that money you stole? 𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐩𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦, 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐧𝐨 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞.

𝑾𝒉𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒃𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒕, 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒍𝒅, 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒅𝒊𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖, 𝒐𝒓 𝒑𝒂𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒊𝒏, 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒂𝒚, "𝑰 𝒅𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝒓𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒎𝒃𝒆𝒓."

Re-member is simply making a thought your member again. Every thought you don't let go of by constantly meditating on it becomes a member of you. In other words, if you meditate on God's word, you make His word your member. Any thought that doesn't add value to you should not be your member.

𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐚 𝐠𝐢𝐟𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐆𝐨𝐝.

I believe I have the gift of forgetting the former things. I almost cannot remember in detail the wrong things done, or the reason why I was angry at someone. And this is because I always tell myself not to dwell on it, I immediately fill that space up with a different thought. So if I eventually get to talk about it with the person, I honestly will be unable to remember exactly why I was not happy.

We all need to pray and trust God for grace to clean up our minds from hurts, disappointments, forgiven sins, and the old things, so we can move into the new, into joy, happiness, righteousness, liberty, peace, and freedom.
