FRIENDS WITH ME: You can become good friends with God
Voice of Eden
Dear friend,
The main reason why I decided to write about friendship is because I see a great need that we all need to cultivate friendship with God. God does not just want us to be his followers/servants but His friends. The truth is, we cannot be good friends with God and push people away, we cannot say we love God and not love people or be able to build healthy relationships with people. Sometimes we think something is wrong with everybody but us. One of the signs that we are God's friend is our ability to sustain and hold unto a God relationship no matter how much we are pained or think we need to walk away.
Let me share with you some life's lesson today.
1. Friendship with God or man is not accidental, it is built.
Just like I said in my last letter, "You have to deliberately work at it." No matter how much we want to be friends with God we cannot wish it only, we must deliberately work at it. Spend more time talking about how good and kind he is, talking about his word and letting him know that you need him always. Let him know you are available to do what ever he wants you to do. Do not just go to him only when you have a problem and need a way out.
2. Do not just make friends, have them.
Most of us are pretty good when it comes to making friends. We are good communicators and at a single conversation, we make friends with them, but on the long run we obviously can't keep them as friends. This is not because of a fault in character from the person, it is often because we are terrible with having friends. So we make friends everywhere we go but end up not keeping/having any of them a friend after a long run.
Do not just make God your friend but keep him as one. Keep him as a friend in every year. Whatever comes, stay friends with God.
How really do we build and stay friends with God and man?
1. Maintain constant conversation with God even if you do not feel like it.
2. Respect the person you are in relationship with, even if it's God. Do not think something is wrong with them but right with you.
3. Love regardless.
4. Be honest with God and your partner
5. Be commited to making things work.
6. Be commited to peace
7. Learn to apologise
8. Be willing to forgive ....
Shalom
