_You are a person of influence
Key scripture: Genesis 1:28 KJV
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that move upon the earth.
Dear friend,
For several generations, stories from Africa have traditionally been passed down by word of mouth. Often, after a hard day’s work, the adults would gather the children together by moonlight, around a village fire and tell stories. This was traditionally called 'Tales by Moonlight'. Usually, the stories are meant to prepare young people for life, and so each story taught a lesson or moral. But this was also a way the adult gained influence over the young ones. Without so much effort, their thinking, believes, perspectives, and actions were being shaped. We don't usually tell stories any more, but the younger generation are now being influence by the society. It tells where we are heading to.
As parents, teachers, pastors or leaders, you have a great deal of influence over the children or people under your care. What we say and do is of high value to the generation after us.
It's a blessing to have influence.
I remembered the first time I entered into a class room to teach a group of ss1 students, I was overly excited just knowing that, for the few period I have with them, I could affect, determine, cause a change or influence them positively. Every time I had the opportunity to go into the class to teach, I took out sometime just thinking of the words to say to them from scripture before I start teaching.
Don't misuse any God given opportunity you have to influence others. Sometimes God gives us the opportunity to be parents, teachers, leaders, pastors...and we misuse the opportunity. If you are able to influence a group of people (family, friends, students or neighbors) positively, then you are a blessed man.
It's God's intention that man influences the earth.
The first question people often ask is, "how can I do that?"
I'll tell you in no particular order.
1. Stay In It:
As Christians, we are more in a hurry to leave the earth than we are to see that things are set right on the earth. You can't influence a place that you are in a hurry to leave. We are in it so let's stay in it.
2. Love it:
You can't positvely influence a people you don't love. Love is the foundation for anything positive.
3. Be Who You Are:
Influence is often a by-product of being who you have been blessed by God to be. You can't imagine the number of persons waiting on you to become all that you have been blessed to be. You influence people by being your self.
4. Don't Conform:
In exchange for conformity to the patterns of the world, renew your mind daily with what God's word says about you.
