Dear friend,
_ how much can you endure!
Key Scripture: Rom 5:3-4
Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces endurance, endurance character and character, hope.
There are just enough reasons why a man will choose not to endure. Endurance is obviously not an easy thing to talk about, or to do either. So nobody enjoys the process of endurance. But why then should we endure? Where we read in Romans said we should rejoice in our sufferings because is produces endurance, character and hope. In other words endurance is something we should all work towards having because it births character and hope. But we must know it is a product of suffering.
Endurance is a product of suffering
Nobody, especially today Christians, want to hear anything about suffering. We even have a song for it, "Me I no go suffer, I no go beg for bread." But Romans 5:3 said we should rejoice in suffering. Quite confusing right? Listen, nobody should and can rejoice in suffering for an "ignoble" cause. We are only told to endure suffering and rejoice in it when it is for a noble cause. If you suffer because you chose to stand for God, chose not to compromise at the office, chose not to cheat at the exam, chose not to sleep with the man before marriage...then you should endure it.
Our faith can only be purified in the furnace of affection, and we can only come out pure if we endure the heat of the fire.
Today we will hardly find someone who is suffering for righteousness sake. Simply because:
1. We are ashamed and hate that we are suffering because we didn't compromise.
2. Most of the things we suffer are because we compromised.
Don't endure hardship if the end won't produce a good result
If God will open our eyes to see the great results we have thrown away simply because we couldn't endure that 5 minutes of hormonal discharge and control our bodies or because we couldn't endure the pain of waking up to study and pray. If He would only let us see the great crown we let go in exchange of something as little as five minutes sex.
Jesus only could endure the cross because we kept His eyes on the price (the glory that lies behind the cross). If you must grow into everything God has ordained that you become, you must endure the process because it won't be a always sweet. Don't be in hurry to grow. Growth is painful and therefore needs endurance.
Without endurance you can't finish what was started
So many dreams and visions are dead simply because someone failed to endure hardship. We must understand that the authenticity of a dream will be tested by hardship, and you must endure. (Ask Joseph)
Endurance is a better response to hardship than quitting
I want to end by letting you know that, nobody rewards a quitter, not even God! If it is to hard for you, you can take some rest and get strengthen (it's called waiting on God), but don't quit!
You have to keep moving, don't quit. If you can't endure pain and hardship you can't receive the reward. I'm not asking us to endure because we like pain(nobody does), I'm asking us to endure because there's so much more for us that we haven't taken hold of yet and we can't afford to stop here because of a discomfort!
If you must win the price you must endure the pain!
You don't know how long it's going to take before it is all over, so you have to endure for as long as it takes.
Keep growing
