#Rethink: Every call has its response.
Text: 1 Samuel 3:1-16
Dear friend,
Isn't it amazing that the earth exists as a response to God's call?
As little as a call my sound, it is a principle that brings about the response/answer we desire.
Lesson no1: If you need to see John, call John. If you need to see good, call good. If you need to see honor call it. We cannot keep calling bad, pain, or disappointment and expect to see good, joy, or breakthrough.
Today, I want us to focus on God's call and man's response. Our case study will be Samuel.
I was thrilled to find out that God kept calling Samuel even though Eli was the one who knew the right response to the call of God. But Eli on the other hand wasn't the one been called.
Lesson no.2: Don't respond until you have been called. If you know the right response to the call tell it to the one who has been called.
God insisted on calling and waiting for the response of a man who has never heard his voice and didn't know how to respond.
So Samuel kept responding to God's call the way he has always responded to a man's call (Eli).
Samuel didn't know that the one who has now called him was not a man.
Are there areas in your life where you have responded to God's call as though it was a man that called you? In other words, are there areas in your life where you have doubted that the one who called you can keep you?
The response we should give shouldn't always be linked to the kind of call that was made, but to the one who made the call. It's not always about what was said, but who said it.
Ok, back to Samuel...
There are two reasons why God insisted on calling Samuel.
1. Samuel was attending to the service of the Lord (vrs1)
You don't have to be called to attend to the work of God. Our service unto the Lord Jesus is not a calling.
But If we delight ourselves in serving the Lord, He will reveal Himself to us.
2. Samuel rested in the presence of the Lord (vrs 3)
Samuel didn't visit God's presence every Sunday and Wednesday, he lived there. I'm not saying we should take our bags to church and start sleeping there, I'm only saying Psalm 91 should become our reality.
To be continued...
