JUST WHAT I NEEDED

JUST WHAT I NEEDED

Dear friend,

During the last week, someone said something highly profound that blessed me absolutely. This person was not talking to me, I just saw a post on IG, and the funny part of it was that I was not looking for a word (maybe I was, I don't know). Even if I was, not in that manner. I was simply going through IG, sitting in the living room with my earpiece on, and boom! the word came...I quietly went off Instagram in search of my notebook just so I can jot things down.

Those words may not bless you as much as it did to me, but I most certainly believe someone else needs to hear it. Perhaps, just as it opened my eyes to a lot of things, it may launch you into a place of rest. Rest from activities, from hustle, from trying to please everyone, rest from trying to be someone else and rest from trying to become the best and not your best... I was able to separate what I heard into two parts:

1. You cannot have everything:

Before you go on, take a pause and think about it.
..............................

I said, "you cannot have everything." I know this may sounds contrary to the scripture where Paul said the Lord shall supply all your need... (Philippians 4:19), but it is not. God only promises to supply everything we need and not everything. It is important we know the difference. We do not need everything, but everything we need He will supply.

To many times in the struggle to get every-thing we step out of the very-thing we need.

I don't know if it happens to you but it happens to me; some times I am tempted to buy everything I see, eat everything I want or just move around from place to place when I have the money. Other times as guys, we often wish we could date every fine girl we see on the way.

In other view, no man also has every knowledge. All the things we think we know is only part of what there really is. Why act like we know and have it all? Why treat others like they have nothing because we have much (little actually)? Why carry yourselves like the ones who has everything figured out?

The earlier we come to terms with the fact that we cannot have everything the easier life becomes. If I don't need it I have no business trying to get it.

Do a check and find out how many things you got that you had/have no need of. How many relationships you got into that you did not need to go into. How many cars you bought that you did not need, just because you wanted everything or something new. Years ago I learnt from a movie that the more you keep getting the less you actually have.

The more I try to get everything, the less of anything I have.

Think of a person trying to pick you many cartons off the floor at thesame time, he will end up not being able to carry anything unless he focuses on one and picks them up one at a time. Many times life gets that way, at the expense of getting everything we loose even the one we have. Let's me repeat this for emphasis sake:

You cannot have everything!!!

Shalom
