#DON'T GLUE IT
Dear friend,
While I was growing up, I got to understand that no child likes to have a broken toy. So the first thing we think about when a toy gets broken is, "Dad please fix it."
Growing up, we had so many video games at home that my elder brother was always fixing. Amongst all the video games we had, none was a brand new one. As much as we enjoyed them, they could only last for a while and then he'll have to open them, look out for what went wrong and fix it. After fixing it, he'll always glue it to close the game box because I think the screws were all missing.
When I was a little older, I wondered why we could not just get a new game with screws and no problems, so it could save us all of the stress. However that leads me to what I will be sharing with you today.
I pray the Holy Spirit helps me draw out and also communicate His heart to you today.
Two things I'll share quickly - one today and the other on Thursday.
1. Do not glue things up inside you and get broken everytime you are to be fixed.
We often have issues inside our glued cases. Things we have left either unattended, half fixed, quicky fixed, un-fixed or gotten used to and never worry about fixing. Whenever we get broken in other to be fixed, then it is clear that we glued things all up. Jesus should not have to force us open before he can fix us....learn to be open before God always!
The main problem is that as long as the container is glued the content cannot be fixed except it be broken or forced open.
There are a number of ways we glue things all up on the inside of yourself, I will give you a few: not accepting that something is wrong, always thinking you are right, always being defensive, never being willing to accept corrections, never being able to say "I'm sorry" or "You are right", looking for people who would only tell you what you want to hear, and so much more.
A problem from the inside cannot be fixed from outside. And we must come to understand that most of the problems we face in our homes, relationships, society or churches are not just external but internal.
If we don't learn to be open up to ourselves and to the people we can trust but most importantly to Jesus, we will keep having greater problems just because one thing was left unattended, half fixed, un-fixed, or quickly fixed.
Some years back I listened to something bishop T.D Jake's said that blessed me. He said, "be careful for quick fixes, because they often lead to greater problems." Jesus is not a quick fixer, infact He is never in a hurry to fix anything before it gets out of hand as we often believe. Scripture says, "he who believes does not act hastily." (Isaiah 28:16)
Never forget that the best way to fix an inside problem is through prayer.
