_You too can be successful

Key scripture: Joshua 1.8 ...but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

Dear friend,

God never intend that any of us should end up a failure, unsatisfied and unfulfilled, but successful at what we do. I heard someone say, "not all of us are going to be successful, happy, do well or be rich. Just like all fingers are not equal, some of us are the small fingers and the earlier we accept that the better." The truth is, if you accept that, then you will most definitely be the one to end up poor, unhappy and unfulfilled, because you can be a successful small finger.

The ideal question is, who determines that? Who determines whether I would be successful or not? Who determines if I'd be happy or not? Who determines if I'd be rich or poor and unhappy? Me, you or God? In as much as God is sovereign, He does not determine our success, if we decide not to be successful we would not be. Likewise the people around you. So the only person who decides if we end up successful or not is us.

If it has to be, it's up to me!!! We need to say that every day we wake up and get out of bed.

We often say we are waiting on God as an excuse never to do anything, or we wait for validation from the people around us before we feel good about the one thing we are called to do. We give God our responsibility and give people the power to determine if we are successful, happy or not. Today, take your responsibility and power back. Do what you have been called to do and let God validate you.

Take note of this: It is not what you do that determine if you are or will be successful or not, but it is how you do what you do that determines your success. So the fact you do a business does not mean you are successful at it or will be. The fact you sell yam does not also mean you can not be successful in yam selling. Your trade, occupation or carrier does not automatically determine success. Success is determined by you and how you do what you have been called to do.

How do I do what I do?

1. Define what success is for you: Giving success a definition is equal to knowing your destination.

Just make sure your definition of success is not small and it is in line with what God has called you to do. If not, you may be intimidated when you are in the same room with people who have big definitions and are working towards it. However, remember that so many of the things we call success today are not really success. For example, money, house, cars and so on. Understand that being rich is different from being successful. If God said you will lead this people into the promise land like Joshua, you are successful if you just stick to the plan. What is success to you???

2. Find out the road that leads to your destination and take the path:

Success is a journey. If success to you is being a good father, having a good business and helping abused women. It means you will have to spend more time at home, put more attention in your business and use your resources to fight for women in abusive relationships or marriages. Whatever your definition is, find the path that leads you to success. 

If you don't define success you will settle for an ordinary life.
