DAILY BREAD: Not every bread truly satisfy

Give us this day our daily bread.

Dear friend, 

I am fully aware that every man needs bread to survive. But Jesus made it clear that for us to live and not just survive we need a certain kind of bread. We need the word. We dont just need the bread that satisfy the human body. Jesus in scripture called himself the bread of life, that's a different kind of bread (rf John 6:35). You'll be so shallow to think that bread is only about material provision, money, food or a partner. Bread is whatever satisfaction you seek. Whatever satisfy a man's hunger is his bread. Everytime you ask for daily bread, you simply ask for satisfaction in whatever you do. The problem is; what satisfaction do you seek and where do you get it from? Money, knowledge, sex...and a whole lot more are all bread.

Bread is a daily necessity

God doesn't expert you to be satisfied today from last week's, month's or last year's  bread. Everyday gives you the right to ask for your next bread. If you look closely at that line of prayer, it sounds more like a statement of confidence than a prayer of request. It sounds like the bread is rightfully yours and you are aware that is it ready and available. And there's nothing wrong if you demand for it.

God doesn't determine what our bread is. Every time we say that prayer, He searches our heart to see what exactly is bread to us. What satisfaction do we seek today? Some of us may think we just need 500 thousand to be satisfied, and everytime we ask for daily bread we ask for money. Some other person may just be asking for a good health, knowing that money hasn't done a good job in satisfying me. Some other person may just be asking for love, good relationship, or a child or a job. But within all these things, we can only get temporal satisfaction. The satisfaction can only last for a day and then we are back again.

Everybody is looking for satisfaction but only God can truly satisfy a man

You think all you need is a husband and you won't have to worry about anything else until you get a husband. As the day goes by so does the satisfaction you derive from it. All you need for the day is God and more of God and more of God and more of Him. Everyday His word is new, new bread to chew!! You don't have to hold on to last month's supply. Make use of it and go for another. Every word you consume gives you a satisfaction you can never find elsewhere. If God doesn't satisfy you nothing else can. But God is always all you'll ever need.  Daily seek Him (Bread that gives life)
