#Whose Child Is This?
_Every child is born.
Key passage: Matthew 1:18
This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit.
Dear friend,
All children are born and should be nurtured and raised by good parents. The upbringing of a child is very important, not just to the child but the society at large. Because a child today will be a parent tomorrow and they will give exactly what they were given. Last night while I was on my way home from visiting a friend, I saw some children playing with bangers (knockout), but that wasn't my worry. Just as I looked at every corner of the area I saw adults smoking weed. Then my heart was broken within me, I said, "this children are most likely to replace this adults when they are of age except someone teaches them otherwise." My heart was really heavy because I saw children who most likely would end up messed up. Because those adults were once children, and those children will soon be adults. So I quietly prayed in my heart for every children there.
*Family does matter*
Simply because God raises us in families, family is indeed very important. You think heaven didn't carefully select the family to send Jesus to to grow as a child? It is absolutely dangerous and wrong for a child not to belong to a family. That child will be open to any and every thing. Family is a guide, a covering, a cleanser, an incubator... It is everything to a child. For those children, that life and they people around is the family they know, they will probably grow up believing that smoking weed, partying, having sex, and take drugs are what adults do. As parents please keep an eye on that child.
Everything Jesus knew, he learnt in family. We always thought He came knowing everything that he was meant to do and that he is the son of God, No! He discovered it by reading the word and it was affirmed when he was 30 at his baptism. Everything Jesus knew about Himself he learnt it (from his earthly parents, from the elders, but most especially from the Father) because I believe his parents didn't call him anything asides that they were told. They didn't call him stupid boy, hey didn't say he won't amount to anything simply because he broke a chair, they didn't call him lazy because he slept all night, they didn't compare him with his age mates like parents do today. Moses as a child was constantly told my his mother that he was not an Egyptian. What do you constantly tell that child? What do you call the child? Stupid, idiot, fool, ugly, lazy or brilliant, loving, beautiful, intelligent, smart, or hardworking?
*Every child has a parent*
Let me talk to parents a little bit. You may not be the biological parent of that child, but as long as you have an influence over the child you are considered a parent. It's indeed a great privilege that God could trust you with that child. I keep telling people that even a careless girl or guy who just wanted to have fun can be trusted by God to raise a child. If God can trust you, don't you think you are able by his help to raise that child differently? Jesus turned out the way he did because of the people who were his parents, because of the people he listened to. As much as you can, teach every child around you the best you know would help in raising the child, you may just be saving an entire generation.
