#Move On
_ what's holding you back?
Key passage: 1King 19:21
So Elisha left him and went back. He took his yoke of oxen and slaughtered them. He burned the plowing equipment to cook the meat and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he set out to follow Elijah and became his servant.
Dear friend,
What is keeping you at the same place you have been for years may just be what you are holding on to; more like what is holding you back. For most of us if we must move on we must first let go. Certain things keeps us locked up in the past...things as little as a car we bought, the cloth we had back then that we still have now, the place we live in or our job. When we talk about the past, we picture major events, but things even as little as a cloth, a car, a house a, song or any little gift can keep you in the past.
*The past doesn't go away, we leave it behind.*
_If God must bring you into what he has for you, you must first let go of what you have for you._ Most times we think our plans are better than His or maybe our thoughts and ways are better, so we get really angry and frustrated simply because things didn't go our way.
Mr John, a dedicated church member for more than twenty years. Married and had four children and he needed more income to provide for his family. One day the walked into the pastor's office, asking him to pray with him that God would provide a better job. They prayed in faith and Mr. John left the office. Two days later, John came back in fury. He had been fired. He looked at the pastor and said, "we prayed that God would improve my financial situation, and then in two days, I got fired!" The pastor asked, how do you expect to get a better job until you lose the one you got? To cut the story, Mr. John got a better job that was three times the pay of his old job five days after his attitude changed.
*What are you holding on to?*
It is not what men go through, but what they are able to learn out of it that makes them better; not what we eat but what we digest that makes us stronger; not what we pray or preach, but what we practice and believe that makes us Christians; not what we hold on to but what we let go that makes us move on.
Not everyone can let go of an offence. I agree, certain things are too difficult to let go of, but God is ready to help us. Most of us must decide today to let go of that abusive relationship, that job, that anger, that bitterness or unforgiveness. We can't get the life we desire if we hold firm to our pride, way of thinking, reputation or believe. Review the things you have learnt or have been through and check, do you need them for where you are going? If not, let them go so you can move on. In your relationship, do you need that anger for the kind of relationship you desire? If not let it go!
*God is waiting on you*
Some times we think we are waiting on God when God is actually waiting on us. Before God does and new thing, we must get rid of the old. We pray for a good job and God has asked you to leave the old one but you refused, you pray for a good marriage and God has said leave the current relationship you are in, don't let it lead to marriage, but you refused.
Burn everything you have that God didn't give you. And watch him step in and show himself to be a good God. God is waiting on you!!!
