     #Thank_You

Dear friend,
_ don't say thank you if your heart isn't thankful.

Key scripture: John 5:11
Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted...

Thank you is something we don't really hear so much these days. Even if we do, sometimes we just say it just to fulfill all righteousness. Lately, I have been learning to say thank you, with deep gratitude in my heart, not because I received something pronounced or big. I even recently just started saying thank you to God for the trials, temptations, difficulties, weaknesses and little strength that I have.

*Saying thank you has very little to do with what was done for you, but more to do with the state of your heart.*

Thank you are words used to express gratitude. So even when things doesn't feel or look good, or nothing has been done, should you still be thankful?

I believe that the state of a man's heart as regards gratitude should be the same irrespective of the what was or wasn't done. I mean, you shouldn't be more grateful because more was done, and less grateful because less was done and not grateful because nothing was done.

For me the story of Jesus feeding five thousand men taught me so much about saying a simple thank you. From the passage we read that He took the bread and gave thanks, and then we assume He gave thanks to God, which is not a wrong assumption. But Jesus also gave thanks to the boy from whom He took the loaves from. There's no way He would have thanked the provider and not thank the one it came through. We find it very hard to thank a little one or a family member or an old friend, simply because they see it as their duty. He is supposed to do it, so why should I say thank him when he brings food home or does the dishes or buy some water etc

*You can't share what you have if you are not grateful for what you have.*

I saw this clearly in the life of the young boy. He would never have given out His lunch if he wasn't grateful. The young boy must have been blessed by Jesus' teaching. And by now you should know that God doesn't receive anything from an ungrateful heart. So being grateful (saying thank you) has nothing to do with receiving alone, because we are also expected to be grateful even when giving out. So like I said, it's a state of the heart...you give with gratitude and receive with gratitude.

*Would you be grateful when what you have is nothing compared to what you need?*

Phillip immediately did the calculations and found out just what they would need to feed just some of the people, not even all of them. Let me help you understand the miracle of being grateful. Apparently, one denarius would feed ten persons, and 200 would provide a day’s rations for 2000; here we have over 5000 mouths. Today 200 denarii is equivalent to $14,500. So that's the amount Jesus would need to feed just 2000. Over 5 million Naira worth of bread to feed everyone.

*Jesus gave thanks for five loaves and two fishes over 5 million naria.*

Would you compare five loaves and two fishes with $14,500? If Jesus gave thanks for 5 loaves...He expects us to give thank for everything we have little or big.

My lesson today: Don't allow what you want keep you from being thankful for what you have. Because what you have is what you have received, and if you receive; give thanks.

Keep growing
