Dear friend,
_it's open before you and shut behind you.
Key scripture: 1 Cor.16:9
_Because a great door for effective work has been opened to me, and there are many who oppose me._
So I have been thinking about open doors. Because that's the most prayed prayer in almost every prayer meeting. Every one wants a door to be open but we aren't really concerned about what lies behind the door. So so many times we pray for an open door without a clear understanding about what it means for a door to be open. Even after the door is open we don't walk through it simply because that was not exactly what we had in mind when we prayed for an open door.
God only places an open door before you not behind you
That's why you must understand that everything you have gone through only lead you to what you are going through and will go through (it doesn't have to be something bad). The journey continues, one door only leads to another; one experience only open the way for another.
You can't keep holding on to the past and praying for an open door. Because when God opens a door, He places the door before you, not behind you. Give yourself an opportunity to love and be loved again, even though your heart has been broken, trust again, believe again...just move past where you are. Everything you do must be a forward moving, because that's where your door lies.
Not all movement is forward
Interesting, so many of us are not moving forward towards our open door. It's God's part to open that door and it is ours to step into it.
Whatever you do that doesn't cause progress causes retrogress.
God is so much interested in your progress, your forward movement and growth. God doesn't first open a door and then expect you to move. No! He opens a door only when He sees you moving. That's why you must make sure you keep improving yourself daily. Study and work hard. Prayer in itself will not necessarily cause an open door to be place before you, your deeds will _(Rev 3:7)_
An open door is an opportunity for effective work
Everytime you pray for an open door, you are simply asking for greater responsibility, effectiveness, higher trust and more work. But we see an open door as more blessing, new car, promotion, new job, access into the White House and so on. Yes! I don't disagree to an extent that these things are what we stand to benefit when the door is open. But my point is, what lies behind the door that we don't often see or want to see, are the efforts, the work, the valuable time spent reading and growing, the responsibility...
*I strongly believe that if you take full responsibility, and are effective in the first door the next door will open without you having to pray for it.* (don't get me wrong, prayer is something we must do always).
Your deeds not your payers are triggers to an open door.
There are certain prayers you stop praying as soon as you get understanding. Paul never prayed for an open door to preach the gospel, except for very obvious cases where the enemy contended to harden the heart of the people to hinder him from preaching.
Keep moving, God will place the open door before you!
Keep growing
